The path an electron follows around the nucleus of an atom or the path a planet follows around the sun.

Gravity keeps planets in orbit around their sun whereas electromagnetic attraction keeps electrons in orbit around the nucleus. "Orbit" can also be used to describe the path a satellite (natural or artificial) follows around the planet it is orbiting. Orbits can be spherical or slightly eliptical.
