For example, air is a mixture of mostly nitrogen and oxygen and salt water is a mixture of salt and water. Mixtures can be separated using a variety of techniques:

2) If the substance has dissolved (e.g. a mixture of salt and water) you can use evaporation
3) If the mixture contains different colours of ink you can use chromatography
4) If the mixture contains liquids with different boiling points you can use distillation
